Early Years Foundation Stage – Understanding of the World
The educational programme for Understanding of the World, set out in the EYFS Framework, is delivered in our reception classes in line with the Extend Reception Curriculum.
Key Stage 1 and 2 – Science
We follow the national curriculum.
In Year 1, we teach science in line with our multi-academy trust’s ‘Extend Early Curriculum’.
We follow the HEP Science scheme of work in Year 2-6. We moved to HEP science in the 2025/2026 academic year. This programme is rolled out to years 3-6 - each following their respective year group. Although years 4, 5 and 6 will not have had the HEP science approach from the beginning, teachers are using in lessons formative assessment to bridge any gaps that may appear.
